We at GMS are looking for an experienced Project Coordinator to join our growing team and facilitate management of EU/UKRI-funded projects.

Founded in 2008, GMS is an established service provider specializing in marine consulting/ end user advising to EU and UK funded projects. Our team includes Master Mariners/Captains with over 50 years of experience in the maritime industry, and 30+ years in the LNG/FSRU industry alone. GMS has also participated in 10+ large maritime R&D projects privately and co-funded by Horizon 2020/Horizon Europe for a total amount of 30+ million euros. We are a part of a consortium of companies with a total of 40 employees, with 10 team members employed under GMS.

We, together with a consortium of partners, have won a project, focused on enhancing safer navigation at Sea, spanning 3.5 years. This project will mark the first step towards autonomous shipping. As co-coordinators of this project, we are looking for an enthusiastic and challenge-driven individual who can help us grow further.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate the Project Manager in representing the company and managing EU/UKRI funded R&D/R&I projects in which the company participates
  • Coordinate, support and guide the Project Manager with their daily activities and responsibilities; assign tasks to internal teams and assist with handling any issues that arise
  • Assist in managing consortium members and/or team members as a Work Package and/or task leader and their tasks
  • Coordinate resources and third parties for the execution of projects
  • Communicate and collaborate with consortium partners to successfully deliver assigned project outcomes
  • Assist in preparation, timely delivery, and review of project deliverables
  • Monitor and track progress of the developed project plans
  • Assist in managing a variety of tasks, prioritise a heavy workload and meet targets
  • Attend project meetings (virtually and in person abroad), conferences, trainings as required
  • Undertake and deliver dissemination, communication, exploitation, innovation tasks
  • Interact with executive-level staff

About you:

  • Postgraduate University degree (MSc and/or PhD) in an engineering or scientific discipline preferably in the Information Technology sector)
  • Minimum of 3 years of proven past experience in managing EU funded projects or similar project management area
  • Prior experience of maritime industry will be considered a plus
  • Excellent computer literacy (MS Project, MS Office, MS Teams etc.)
  • Proven skills in producing and editing project content within a business environment
  • Project Management Professional certification and/or experience as a PhD postgraduate research assistant will be considered as important advantage(s)
  • Ability to work with minimum supervision, in a team and independently
  • Excellent verbal, written and presentation communication skills in English language
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills
  • Ability to multitask and a keen eye for detail
  • Ability to collaborate with a multi-lingual international team
  • Ability to research, understand and contribute with technical R&D/R&I matters
  • Analytical thinking, strategic planning and ability to problem solve and develop solutions

We at Global Maritime Services Ltd (GMS) are looking for an experienced Principal Software Engineer, comfortable with using languages and software development frameworks such as C/C++, Qt, Python, Javascript / React, and WebAssembly, and capable of leading and driving progress for a team of developers. We are looking for someone passionate about combining the skills of software design, development, and programming with technical project management. Additionally, the individual in this role will manage software development, implementation, and deployment for various ongoing projects. This position will report directly to the Chief Technical Officer (CTO).

(OSM) which requires an enthusiastic, challenge-driven individual who can assist the CTO in managing the consortium´s team of software developers.

Responsibilities

  • Managing the software development/technical team, and dedicating time to training, mentoring, and providing technical guidance to junior software developers / engineers
  • Experience of Technical Project Management and organizing the workflow for the team of developers
  • Plan and conduct team meetings and feedback sessions to discuss projects, brainstorm ideas, and put forward solutions to any issues
  • Managing/overseeing design, development, testing, and maintenance of software applications, and optimizing deployment pipeline
  • Managing the maintenance of code repositories, and CI / CD facilities including automated testing, and technical documentation
  • Implementing and ensuring compliance with coding standards
  • Assist in managing a variety of tasks, prioritize a heavy workload with multiple priorities, and meet targets
  • Attend meetings (virtually and in person abroad) with other groups in the organization and possible clients, conferences, and trainings as required

About you:

  • Academic background in software engineering, computer science or related discipline
  • At least 5+ years of hands-on software development experience
  • Strong working experience of establishing / supporting software infrastructure based on Linux/Unix, Docker, Containers, GitHub, CI/CD best practices
  • Hands-on expertise writing code in some of the software development technologies that we work with: C/C++, Qt, Python, Javascript / React, WebAssembly.
  • Prior experience of managing a team will be preferred
  • Experience / exposure to scientific programming (data analytics, computer vision, machine learning, etc.) will be a plus
  • Ability to multitask and a keen eye for detail
  • Ability to collaborate with a multi-lingual and multi-cultural international team
  • Analytical thinking, strategic planning and ability to problem solve and develop solutions
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and time management skills
